On Wednesday it will be the "Gai Saber" (literally "gay knowledge", but better translated into modern English as "knowing how to have fun"). This annual literary festival celebrated on 3 May was started in 1323 by a group called "Sobregaya compannia dels VII Trobadors de Tolosa" (the super-gay company of the 7 troubadours of Toulouse) to promote the language and poetic art of the lenga d'oc, medieval Occitan. In 1328 they published "las leys d'amors" (the laws of love), a grammar of lenga d'oc, the language of love which the troubadour ballads are in.
