People who don't like cats simply don't have patience. Being a dog person is incredibly easy. Dogs will offer you all their loyalty in exchange for a head pat or some treats. But if you get a cat's loyalty, they absolutely are capricious and unconcerned by default, so it takes far more patience and investment in a relationship. Especially when you get that cat as an adult. Multiply it a thousand times when the cat was rescued from an abusive situation. But still, I persisted, and this orange beast of mine is the most loving and affectionate animal I've ever had. She's such a sweetheart, though. She only loves two people, but she loves my wife and I deeply and even more dotingly than a dog.
