It's not even close. My first bad experience was last year. It took about 4 months to receive a wire transfer from Asia.
Antiquated is a perfect way to put it.

In September I couldn’t get a wire transfer from the US to Greece for my wedding. The son of the venue owner turned out to have an American bank account for his business so we just ended up getting around it that way. But it really puts it into perspective the number of people and institutions you have to get permission from. It even had me thinking about high bitcoin fees. Like how much is a bitcoin transaction worth if you want to send several thousand dollars from one country to another in 10 minutes with no permission? How much would you pay to not have to wait days, weeks or months? How much time and productivity is lost from trying to get permission and waiting? Even high fees seem cheap when you compare them to the alternative.
