I want to set up a Start9 server. Server Pure too espensivo (and out of stock anyway). I do have a refurbished Dell running Ubuntu I use as my personal daily driver.

How about:

1 create iso of current Ubuntu setup

2 install proxmox

3 set up Ubuntu as a VM

4 set up start9 as VM

would this work? #asknostr

Depends on what you mean by "Daily driver". VMs are reasonably efficient at compute, disk, network. They are annoying when it comes to graphics. I do run Win10 in a vm to do taxes - but I'm glad it is only once a year.

Why not just run Start9 in a VM in your existing Ubuntu server?

I just bought another server with ECC ram for $70 (plus shipping and RAM upgrade). So that is another avenue to consider.

Hm. I don't know, honestly. Kind of wanted to give proxmox a go (purely out of curiosity) , but if I can achieve it by putting start9 in VMware on Ubuntu then maybe that's the faster / easier path...I don't know what I don't know yet...
