Yesterday a man that I have spent less than an hour of cumulative time with requested that I come visit him on his deathbed. ☠️

I am just a maintenance worker at his building. I spent time with him to listen to his issues and I gave him my number to text. As he was dealing with radiation and horrible sounding treatments he said he couldn’t even trust himself anymore. 😥

I try and treat everyone with respect and understanding, even if there’s almost nothing I can do for them, I can listen and commiserate with them. Generally about how life’s a bitch and throws all sorts of curve balls at you. ⚾️

Honestly, it is an honor to be asked to visit 🥹 but awful too. He is ready to go and even as he lays dying he’s asking his niece if his last money will cover the hospice care. 🥲

The last conversation we had was about the promise of economic freedom and the greatness of America and the ability to work, earn, save and live. I wish i could have been a friend for longer.
