There are a couple of reasons. One:
1. I’ve come to realise recently that a company, while providing convenience to users, is a single point of failure enforced by institutions who find it disruptive. So we have to go underground a bit.
2. With decentralised protocols, this is now possible.
3. Also meaning those who create and provide value, should have the option to anon, less they are subject to coercion as well.
There are a few other reasons, where this optionality makes sense, as well.
I hear you and understand you to an extent, but I think there’s more to be gained from transparency.

Yep, create transparency in open source code (proof of work), stack less reputation in ego (proof of stake) 😂
