What about the storied Happy Hacking Keyboard? Have you ever tried that one? I've heard positive reviews about that however it is pretty pricey.

Absolute trash imho due to lack of arrow keys, poor placement of ctrl+alt keys and screwy layout for pipe key and backspace.
