I feel like the duology is an under-used media format.

Most work is either a one-off, or gets stretched into a full trilogy, or turns into a full franchise.

It's rarely the case where a creator is like, "You know what; I think two books/movies are the right number to tell this story."

Which single movie would have been better over two, and which trilogy would have been better condensed into the duo?

True, true. Heres 2 good pairings

The Bitcoin Standard / The Fiat Standard

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, part 1 & 2

From a storytelling standpoint, trilogies can be powerful. But it does seems that most modern trilogies defenestrate strong story structure and are just a way to milk the last few dollars from a franchise.

Birth, life, death. A lot of movie series that should have stopped after “birth”

Because money

Agreed. Kill Bill is the only one that quickly comes to mind for me

I’m now wondering if you’re considering to write a second book… 🤔

toy story could’ve stopped at 2

Maybe a before this:after this approach?

More books from you can only be a good thing. Do it!

If you can sell 2, you can sell more.

When is the next book? 🫡

my favourite star wars novel is a duology: timothy zahn - the hand of thrawn
