Well said. I think collectivism comes with a standardizing urge. When opinions become standardized the response of a collective risk becoming predictable and one-sided. Having a decent number of individualist contrarians is necessary to balance collectives.
A functional free market works because of decentralized cognition; individual decisionmaking in action at the root level. The analogy is an archipelago of complex and evolving ecosystems without central command structure.
There is resilience in everything that leans on natural, decentralized cognition processes.
