If you study modern day philosophers then study the ancients, if you study the ancients study the moderns.

And when you do that go back and study the cultures of these men the context of their story’s their lives their peoples history’s the content of their character and the color of their ideas. Only then should you fashion their ideas and place them into your mind your actions your life.
