I have a small channel of 100k sats with ~75k satin favour with a peer that hasn't been online for more than a month, I proceed to close the channel.
I get punished with about 50k sats loss on it... How is this? Can someone explain me? Is it some kind of punishment for closing the channel?
If the other peer was offline then your only choice is to force-close the channel, which typically incurs much higher on-chain fees than cooperative closures. This is just the nature of the network, not a penalty but a reality. One of the reasons that small channels are not economically viable on LN, costs > benefits.
