I could argue that supply and demand of goods is irrelevant in a system where a unit's value is not tied to energy or proof of work.
If, in the current model, supply is low and demand is high, those who control the unit of value can simply restate it's value as fact in concert with their agenda as to the acquisition of any good or service.
