I want to start mining with asic again! I want to try a S9 with mineral oil cooling.
But I live in apartment. Even though I pay my own power bill I still don’t want there to be conversation about sudden rise of power consumption.
A S9 power consumption is about 32kwh. How noticeable would it be?
I hope you don’t live in the North Eastern US. I think that would put you on some sort of list.
In terms of power bill, probably pretty noticeable since an AC is 1/5th or fewer kWh.
I did listen to a podcast a long time ago that depending on your utility you might get hit with a higher rate for using more.
Is the 32 kWh also on peak usage? (I think you can tweak its hash rate and power draw especially with Braiins OS)
Right now it’s like 60-70 bucks a month. I don’t know how much I use though. I mine on a 3070 as of right now.
The Power consumption was a rough estimate. I think it’s 1500 w, 1500x24=36000. So 36kwh.
Oh you’re doing kWh per day. I was doing kWh…per hour. I was just doing per hour because that’s how I get billed by the utility. Makes sense though. But yeah calculate that out on your rate but hopefully you can just be left alone to mine and pay for the agreed upon rate without The NY Times writing a hit piece on you!
I also thought an S9 was 1.3 kWh.
