yeah I agree, but at the same time it's what forms the necessary habits for people to return. It's a double-edged sword. Algos and surfacing "good" notes just makes it worse.

I think the old saying of "everything in moderation" applies here. It's up to people to figure out how to balance social media for the good while staving off the negative effects.

Curating your feed might help too. If you see something that bums you out, just mute it. Some clients now have mute words that mute entire category of notes. That could help as well. I use this feature on snort to mute topics that not necessarily upset me, but never make me feel great to think about: war, religion, politics, etc...
