It's why i have not read of viewed any news for over a year and a half now. You name just one of many reasons. Others include:

- To make money from news you have to mostly sell ads, so only news which draws a lot of clicks is worth posting and makes for clickbait headlines only to be nuanced away in the actual article.

- Gell-man amnesia effect: When reading a news article in a field of your expertise you often find a lot of flaws in it, yet when you read something which is not in your field of expertise you accept it as the truth.

- It costs a lot of time and you gain nothing of value. Name the 5 most important news items of last month. I bet nothing comes to mind.

You are absolutely right, I agree with every line 👏🏼👏🏼

100% - The Gell-Mann amnesia effect is never talked about enough.

Very true.. was trying to talk about it with my father just a couple of weeks ago, but I couldn't remember the exact name of it 😅

Correct, I wrote ~100 articles for a not small website, dping my best to *not* make clickbait, and had zero people tell me that they read any of them, including family that I emailed it to. I got one repost of one article from a person who was mentioned in the article. People dont want journalism?

Sorry to hear that. It sucks if you work your ass off on something that in the end seems to be not so well received by others.

I am not saying there is no place for journalism but things happening on the other side of the world, or even on the other side of my ultra small country have zero effect on my life in general, so there is really no reason for me to read it and get upset (or in a very sporadic case, excited) about. Just build-up emotions which have no outlet.

I see news articles just like scientific papers. It's great to have them if you are trying to understand or learn a new thing. Good reference material for sure, but there is no reason to absorb all produced news as it is happening right now.

If you are not doing any investigation or research on political conflicts in europe you would not have to know about a conflict between russia and ukraine, yet this gets planted every day in your face from an opinionated perspective in such a way that you start caring about it until it gets old and dull even though it is no improvement for any of the people since the start of that conflict.

Less money is made so you have to find something new that captures your audience so you can make money. It is just a form of entertainment.
