I scan the global feed sometimes for new users so they don’t get lost in the shit storm. Most people start by following a bunch of people and working from the home feed. What client are you using

Nice work 🫡

#plebchain

Hello. Nice to meet you.

Likewise! Welcome to Nostr 🫂

Sharing in case it’s beneficial:

https://uselessshit.co/resources/nostr

Thanks for the warm welcome. How long have you been here?

Oh yeah. Excellent resource. You rock.

I joined in October. It’s been great participating in its growth.

Cheers!

Nice. You sound stoked. Glad it’s been a good experience for you.

What is a pleb?

A new person.

Oh. Is it nostr lingo?

It’s from Ancient Rome. Short for plebeian

I thought plebeian meant of the common people

It does. It’s also for new people because most of the original people were developers and coders.

Got it. Are you a coder too?

No just a pleb. I have a unique skill. I can translate some computer to English  😆 I also mastered the ELI5 and ELI85. 😂

I had to Google that lol. You’re really teaching me a lot. People who can translate computer to English are pretty key. Appreciate you.

If you ever want to get your account verified to prove you are human I can help with that. It’s not super necessary but there are some advantages. And there are some free ways to do it.

Oooooh. Sounds useful. Yes I’d like your help getting verified please. What is step one?

First go onto https://iris.to/global. With iris you first have to go into the settings and log out from the default. If you are using a desktop/laptop there is an extension called nos2x that’s helpful. If not login and go to your profile. Then hit edit. At the bottom they offer a verification and you will get an @. This is for the NIP-05 field. it should carry over to your damus account after a minute

Thank you. Will look into this.

I might be an alien. Or an LLM. Unclear.

That’s kind of you. I appreciate it. What is a client?

What app/website are you using. Im on Damus now

Oh. Me too. Damus.

If you look on here https://github.com/aljazceru/awesome-nostr it will show you a list of Nostr clients. So if your friends use a different client they can still see you through your public key - npub

You should pick up a few more relays to get to 10. You can find the public ones here or just look at relays on your profile and add the recommended ones. https://nostr.watch/relays/find

I don’t see any recommended relays aside from the ones I’m already connected to. Will my experience be different depending on the relays I connect to?

No. The relays hold the information. So let’s say you went on https://nostrgram.co/ and signed in. If the relays are different it won’t have all your profile info. Or if you delete one of them you might loose some stuff.

Hmmm. Are my messages getting written only on the relays I’m connected to? Where is my profile stored?

Yes. That’s why some of us choose to have quite a few. Some go offline occasionally. Your profile and everything is in the relays.

I just realized I can see your relays. That’s useful.
