For average users, I'd recommend Zorin or Mint.

Because I'm looking to write some code here, the latest support for packages and virtualization makes life easier, but comes with more of a time investment to get Fedora setup in a stable way.

Anecdotally, it does feel like the Ubuntu camp is getting left behind by the Fedora camp.

I will post a more detailed review as I get comfortable.
