I see, I probably didn't understand enough. My vague impression was of a social network which was actually more restrictive than current twitter, so why bother being here if that were to come about(?)

Possible. I think it's just important that we as freedom of speech supporting community speak up and vote by ingoring anything that's goes this route.
You'd think/hope that this would be guaranteed, but who knows.
I don't expect you to know but it made me think in the scenario proposed what if I were following a wide variety of users, one/some of which are on this Curated Offensive Blocklist, would this add me to it by connection..? Anyway, it sounds a bit shitty and hopefully has little/no support
