What's to stop bots from building huge webs of trust. Infiltration of real webs of trust would be trivial.

Meh. Imagine someone offering you 10BTC to trust their profile. Wouldn't that be a way of doing it?
That’s ONE edge of the graph; and someone selling their trust would very soon find themselves losing edges themselves. Plus that’s organically Sybil resistant
