It wasn't. He ran an exchange. Other people used it to scam people. That's no different than you falling for wiring someone money through a bank. You can't sue or criminally charge the bank.

He wasn't a registered exchange. I get why they got him, just hate to see them keep coming for btc trying to fit it in their system and regulate

In the end, one thing I read seems to ring true, "bitcoin doesn't NEED you as an advocate, it's going to do what it does."
