Language is funny like that
I took a linguistic anthropology class once (in another lifetime) and the thing I remember most was this:
The anglicized suffixes “town” and “ton” (Georgetown, Boston, etc) shares the same linguistic root as the Middle Eastern suffix “stan” (Kazakhstan, Pakistan, etc) and the sound “tahn” in a wide range of languages almost always means “place”.
The interconnectedness of humanity never fails to blow my mind.
