TIL about the Island of the Dolls (La Isla de las Muñecas) in Mexico, where hundreds of decaying dolls hang from trees. The island’s caretaker, Don Julián Santana, believed he was haunted by a drowned girl’s spirit and began collecting dolls to appease her.

Thinking about it that way makes it less scary. Dolls creep me out, clowns are worse.
My grandmother collected porcelain dolls. The house is basically abandoned right now but there are still shelves lining the walls in two rooms just covered in dusty dolls.

I loved there multiple times growing up. She was directly across from my own house but it gave me a break from raising my brothers (and parents) as a kid.
