Citizen is the modern word for Slave. They serve the same set of social roles.
But, if that is the case why do you still live in your country? Are you enjoying being a slave?

Because it helps to have protection, as there is no more New World left to move to
I get you though there is still some "old world" out there. Maybe humanity needs to dial down a little and get back to a simpler lifestyle?
