I believe the calibre was a lot smaller than what was reported, also why 4 empty shell casings when only one shot fired?

I was under the impression that there was one empty shell in the chamber because gun hadn’t been cycled yet. 3 other unspent rounds still loaded in the rifle. I think that’s what the Utah DA said. Not discrediting your opinion, just wondering where you heard/ saw 4 empty shells.
