This is why Tea Party were smart in working to co-opt an existing party. Too bad it turned into MAGA.

This is a long game strategy but could be viable to try again. Dems fight this internally so not an option with them. Been observing interesting developments with some trying this on the Greens. Libertarian party might be worth infiltrating too

Because you didn't actually mention them doing anything smart, you just kinda implied they did this by saying this makes them smart when that's the only way it would

That was pretty much their explicit plan back in the early 2000s I had a bunch of friends who participated at the time and they were very open about it.
