-THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE-

This block of maisonettes was built in Tower Hamlets, London in the 1950s by modernist architect Denys Lasdun.

Faced with a need to build new housing on small sites at a high density following the Second World War, the local housing authority found Lasdun's plans for creating 24 maisonettes over 8 floors in a butterfly layout an alternative to building high rises.

Lasdun went on to design more prominent post-war buildings around London, most notably the National Theatre.
