I do think this became true to a certain extent. Each business has its own use case that should be evaluated for on-premises vs hosted but they way the cloud providers are operating they make it so there is no choice.

They don’t train the staff needed to run things locally anymore out of college or in technical training. They are making the hardware and licensing more expensive and tied to more subscription and cloud options. Small to medium sized businesses who want to run an on premises data center have a hard time finding anyone who knows how to manage that infrastructure because tech certifications and newer technologies are all cloud focused.

They don’t make them like us anymore.

cloud = somebody else's computer.
