I lived in the US for one year.

As an European, I found many things to be very strange. Not least, “no firearms” signs when entering buildings.

But the strangest thing, was learning about credit scores. Basically, if you leave a parsimonious life, earning you salary, spending less than what you earn and save what you can, you will have very low chances of getting a loan or a credit card.

However, if you spend a lot, create a lot of debt, have tens of credit cards and so on, you can get whatever you want and you can actually have a good credit score.

I know, I know, it’s not that simple.

But it’s really strange.

Yep I know of people who have used their credit card to buy things for other people, just to boost their credit score. Clown world.

Instead of teaching how to be financially responsible, the make you become a debt slave..
