Not everything needs to be decentralized to take advantage of nostr and apps.

In fact, I’m betting the future is full of centralized company apps using both.

Agreed.

Decentralization of power and allowing free agency (free markets) to flourish is the purpose of decentralization.

Companies being centralized is fine as long as we have a free'ish market where bad or unethical decisions can be countered by employees and consumers voting with their feets and sats.

Having a rich ecosystem of options for our speech, communication and expression brings more resilience in regards to future unknown threats.

Only in the base layer of perfect money do we need to converge on an optimal decentralized solution. (Bitcoin)

Nostr (IMO) is demonstrating a capability to create a communication protocol which gives Twitter users a fair and open alternative

any user with a smartphone and internet access

elons takeover has given preferential user experience to ppl with an extra $132/year to spend on his platform AND a government identification they voluntarily submit to twitter

Billions of humans have neither of those..but all have an equal voice on Nostr

Absolutely.

Nostr is by far the best social media alternative we have at this point.

To play the devil's advocate, we still need to evaluate how Nostr will handle future challenges. Bitcoin having a 14 year track record is a reassurance that it has overcome severe trials by fire.

Nostr is still in development and we can't know for certain which security solutions it will converge on, or exactly how resilient it will be to the first ~10 years of attacks.

I have good confidence in Nostr while I simultaneously think that a broad array of communications options help us spread the risks and mitigate future unknowns.

This is opposed to how I view Bitcoin - in regards to Bitcoin there is an obvious benefit for the world to converge on a single decentralized Bitcoin standard. The Bitcoin security model is known, fixed and isn't dependent on a single private key, among many things.

Nostr is brand new and bad actors/charlatans/centralizing forces will do their best to infect it

also agree to bitcoins proven history of resilience to attacks..and as a value layer (money) it is indeed the most important

We can simply hope for a similar history for Nostr in years forward
