This is why the protestant reformation is still ongoing. Ephesians 2:8-10 For it is by grace you have been saved through faith. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Doing good things does not lead to salvation. That was done completely and finally on the cross. Good deads grow and develop us into being more faithful disciples of Jesus. It is the sanctification of the believer over the course of their entire life. We are saved and then get to do good works. We are not saved by good works.
