pine apple - doesn't smell like pine, doesn't take like apple and doesn't even grow on trees but people put it on their food? That's a scam by definition π

TIL : The word "pineapple" comes from the practice of medieval botanists to call any unfamiliar fruit on a tree that resembles an apple. The first fruit to be called pineapple was the cone, which is the seed-bearing fruit of the pine tree. The Spanish called it "Pine of the Indies" because of its resemblance to a pine cone, and the English added "apple" for its taste.
