I can’t believe they are still administering Depo-Provera. When I was 16, unbeknownst to my parents, I went to planned parenthood for birth control and was convinced the “shot” depo-provera was the best way to go. One shot totally fucked up my body for almost a year, I bled almost every day, my hormones went haywire. I knew they were experimenting with my body and I never took it again.

I did subsequently develop a tumor on my pituitary gland that needed to be removed by a brain surgeon. I have no way of knowing if this was related but it could have been.

This one act of rebellion had extreme consequences, don’t take this, don’t let your daughters take it.

Wow… that’s really powerful and heartbreaking. I’m so sorry you went through that. It’s crazy how something presented as “safe and convenient” can have such long-lasting consequences. Thank you for sharing your story, people need to hear experiences like this to realize what these drugs can actually do.
