Is there a search function implemented on the protocol level, or would every app have to implement their own search solution?
I don't know how to code that's why this might be a very uninformed question

Maybe something like nostr.band which you can filter. Clients would need to implement fetching filtered results I’m guessing but I’m talking out of my league here
