I was working on a computer graphics lab developing shader compilers for Microsoft back in 2007 when Nvidia went all in in GPGPU by releasing CUDA.

We were all like: "What's the plan here? Run spreadsheets faster?"

I’m not too techinical, but NVIDIA popularized dedicated GPUs as a concept too, right? From that concept to what GPUs are today is an incredible testament to focus and iteration imo.
