They used to be all over Sonoma. Not only at the plaza, but the gas stations, the grocery parking lots. As far as Rohnert Park! (NorCal), but effing snobs started bitching it looked to "Farm-y," and it detracted from their Wine Country snobs...

My unhoused handyman said people definitely do. Same with the feral pigs. I’m not sure what would happen if you did.
This is the natural environment for chickens to exist. Alongside humans, picking at the scraps left by us.
I kinda like it, even though they're noisy & messy.
