On the 60 Minutes program, May 12, 1996, Lesley Stahl asked U.S. Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright about the economic sanctions the US was imposing on the Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq.

Stahl inquired, “We have heard that half a million children have died. I mean, that’s more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?”

Albright replied “We think the price is worth it.”
