Books have a higher signal/noise ratio from my own experience reading, but are not flawless. You still need to read multiple books on a subject from proponents and detractors to form an informed opinion.

Social media is mostly noise, it needs to be curate to be useful. Follow others not because they are friends, family, famous or because they follow you but because what they put out is mostly signal to you.

Avoid social media sites that insist on blasting you with information you are not interested in.
