Watched the first episode of Spartacus House of Ashur. Not terrible over the first half. The midgets slaying his promising champion were already raising the difficulty of suspending my disbelief though. But interesting characters got brutally killed before, so that wasn't the end of it.

Right after, Ashur went to the slave market and didn't find a suitable warrior as a replacement while babbling about needing something fresh that people haven't seen in the arena yet.

Jokingly, I thought: Let me guess, you're gonna stumble upon a black woman who is also fighting material to become your next champion and she'll be the next Spartacus archetype plotting a rebellion?

Didn't take 10s and that's exactly what happened. There she was. Gimme a fucking break.

I've loved seeing beefed up black woman who can handle themselves since 80s James Bond and Aliens but if episode 1 is already this predictable, I don't need to see more.

Enjoyed seeing this world again though. Completely forgot how immersive the dialogue was. Like a faux-Latinized English, including heavy use of "fuck(ing)". If you haven't seen the original Spartacus shows and don't mind lots of libertine sex and gore, better watch that.

What a shame to title this Spartacus.

Steven S. DeKnight, fall from fucking sight!

Watched the original series a couple of times. Just finishing Season 3 again. This is good information, I may still take a look though, out of curiosity.

"I'm Spartacus!"
