I've been lifting weights consistently for 15+ years, one thing I've learned is that getting too focused around total weight can lead to injuries.

I'm doing a volume and form day today, still gonna get jacked as all hell, but feel great and have tons of mobility as well.

Took me many years to get past ego lifting and start focusing on time under tension, concentric and eccentric phases, form, etc.

So much better both for muscle gain and injury prevention

But I still treat myself to a 1RM occasionally

It's fun and I think that's a huge part of lifting success!

Getting healthy and strong is a LOOOONG game. Keeping it enjoyable and fun to stick to over decades of more important than doing the optimal workouts for a few weeks.
