When an elephant is young, they stake it to the ground so it isn’t able to run away.

When it grows into an adult it could easily pull the stake from the ground, but it doesn’t.

It remembers the stake holding it down when it was young.

This allows elephant handlers to tether a giant unruly animal which with only a 10 inch piece of metal and a rope.

We all have stakes like this in our own life.

Holding us back.

Solid barriers and limitations we remember from the past, may today just be an illusion.

Smash into the walls a bit and see if the tether is still real.

Only way to break free.

Stakes:

Original sin.

Believing someone else's approval/opinion is more valid than your own.

Stop seeking the approval of others, dead or alive, real or imaginary. They will not save you.

This is scary shit, realising nobody's gonna save you, pick you, fix you. Take some wobbly steps, make small progress, realise you're doing fine, and will get better.

Judicious use of tether I thought

So many of us are conditioned to ask for permission before doing things.
