If the entire global financial network eventually moved over to Bitcoin or some other PoW currency, even if 10-20% of global power consumption was spent on mining, I still think that would be a lot better (and more environmentally friendly) situation than we have at the moment with >$10¹² yearly fossil fuel investments from b*nks.
