Reports confirm a Russian man was tragically killed in a shark attack in Egypt's Red Sea in June 2023.

Victim: Vladimir Popov, a 23-year-old Russian national who was living in Egypt.

Location: Near a beach in Hurghada, a popular Red Sea resort city.

Details: Popov was attacked by a tiger shark while swimming alone, according to sources. His father and other beachgoers witnessed the attack from the shore. The shark attacked multiple times, and despite efforts to help, Popov was dragged under and died.

Aftermath: Authorities closed a significant stretch of coastline and captured the shark for examination. The shark was later beaten to death after being pulled ashore. Some sources state the shark is being mummified to be put on display in a museum.
