Should I invest in a #bitkey or a #coldcard?

I would just buy it and test it, but it’s a ( rightfully)very pricy investment to protect your bitcoin.
I've bought a few Bitkeys for friends.
Coldcard is great and much better risk tradeoff but if you're not interested in really spending time learning about Bitcoin security best practices there are still too many ways to mess up in my opinion.
There is a higher level of trust required with a Bitkey but it's so user friendly I think my grandmother could use it safely. Ultimately the risk of someone losing their own coins is still higher than them being physically stolen.

I think nostr gave you the background knowledge you'll need to use the Cold Card. Just take your time.
Roll 99 dice rolls.
Test you seed phraze by sending a small amount first.
Then Erase your seed.
Restore it. If you screw it up, you're out 100k sats, but if it works, you'll know your seed words are valid.
Keep them secret.
Keep them safe.
Back them up with military grade stainless steel. You might make an extra copy.

Don't be nervous! Lots of good devices out there these days, hard to go wrong.
The coldcard has phenomenal functionality, it can basically do anything you'd ever want plus a million things you'd never even imagine you want lmao

I would recommend considering the Bitbox02 it’s a Swiss device, easy to use and has a very secure bitcoin only edition.

I love this idea.
All these devices are great in their own respective ways.
I think a #bitkey is better suited for your needs. It’s a hot wallet and a cold wallet at the same time.
But while it’s easy to use, buck up is made in an untraditional way, which I would argue makes it less user friendly from that perspective. PDFs + cloud + trusted friend + Block.
Nothing beats the old school 12 words seed backup.

So they designed bitkey it in a way that allows you to spend Bitcoin without the bitkey itself in a secure way, straight from your phone (that’s what’s considered a “hot” wallet) under a set amount you specify.
For any amounts larger than what you set, you need the bitkey to sign the transaction (that’s the “cold” wallet).
But to enable all of this, bitkey is not your typical 12 seed phrase wallet. It’s a bit more complex under the hood.
150$ is steep for someone of my age rn (college student) but i think i might try out the bitkey since im already a cashapp user

We had a huge sale a while back. Holiday season around the corner.
Also don’t skip on the Blockstream Jade. $50 arguably better positioned than both in my humble opinion.
Cold card seems intimidating but once you actually use it, I don't know that I'd go back. It's my main cold storage wallet, before I move to my multi-sig. Which consists of one cold card and two different manufacturers for wallets.
Maybe I’m smarter than I think but I didn’t find the Coldcard Q hard to set up at all. Blockstream Jade is also a very good simple to use option.
Bitkey hands down if you don’t want to worry about safeguarding 12 or 24 words.
I think collard ColdCard is the best signing device, but it offers more advanced features that bitkey. Bitkey is very easy, though it doesn’t offer several features an advanced user may want (for example utxo management).
