Have you looked at palm oil? It has a similar % of saturated fat to tallow and requires very little processing. Palm fruit oil is extracted from the fruit by pressing, the seed kernel is then cracked & pressed to get palm kernel oil.
It's been demonized by MSM because of the orangutans but it's a perennial plant & less destructive to farm than annual crops.
Ironically palm kernel oil is found in the cheaper brands of processed junk & is the main fat used in SE Asia.
I look for palm oil when my (adult) kids are desperate for some crappy processed junk. There's only tallow in my deep fryer though.
