It was actually a reread. I read it high school but fairly poorly. I don't think I even finished it then. There's something about the way classical literature ends thats very melancholy and insightful that I didn't appreciate then.
But I gave it the 4.5 stars this time, which on my scale is Very Good, between Decent and Life Changing. And I'd wholeheartedly call it that.
It was like getting a very brief tour of an expansive and brutally evil system. The kind of sights that stick with you when you're a kid that you don't fully understand until you know more about the world, but you know the whole time that there's something terribly wrong about it all.
Heart of Darkness hits harder the more you know about the kinds of things you learn going down the Bitcoin rabbit hole.
