Which the world agrees with.
According to Taiwan they are the capital of China, they also have extra land claims they refuse to give up in Mongolia Japan Korea and India.
They could have been independent after WWII but refused to give up claims.
The Chinese fascist party that was allied to the Japanese fled there towards the end of WWII.
The actual native Taiwanese people are Polynesian, the Taiwanese gov and society is han Chinese from the mainland.
