Unpopular opinion: Zaps are not going to be sufficient to ensure #damus and other #nostr clients don’t mirror the attention economy of existing social media services.

While we don’t want the bird app’s outrage algorithm, there will still have to be ways for people to find quality content from outside of their filter bubble and not just from users who have a massive following already.

Discovery is a big challenge.

I think using a social graph visualisation to do discovery, is 1,000x better than search or text.

Don’t think it’s ever been available to public other than LinkedInMaps which was taken down about 10 years ago.

I think normal people can learn to use their social graph as a discovery map. You have stuff in common with strangers at the fringe, that’s where discovery should happen.

💯 a way to visualize the graph and then navigate/drill down our web of trust to discover new people and ideas is a must.

Add private and/or public annotations and reputation ratings to the nodes and edges, and we have something interesting that we, users, can control and optimize with various interchangeable algorithms...
