I feel like the issue is the relays they’re connected to. Newcomers need as much (if not more) spam control and junk control than seasoned users who already know where to go

Ya, idk how a new user figures out which relays have better controls these days. Can’t really shove a paid relay from the start, that will turn off a lot of newbs.

I guess by researching it. But I agree it’s not the easiest thing to do. When I started I used to go on nostr.watch a lot and ask tons of questions/look at what relays others were connected to. I figured out real quick that my experience was better without global or by turning off a lot of the relays in the filter of the global view

It took me a while to realize how impactful relay management is on my feed. The most important lesson I've learned, in regards to this, is the fewer relays the better. Never heard of nostr.watch. Thanks.

It shows you the relays by region, and other filters like latency.
