In the sense that he was barely portrayed at all? I personally didn't much like how any characters were portrayed and I find it quite telling that Lynch's version managed to squeeze in fully-formed characters for most people in a fraction of the time (exceptions being Chani - but she's paper thin in the book too, and Alia who was a victim of the overly rushed second half of Lynch's film).

That's mostly because his close relationship with Paul never really got explored. I wish Piter had gotten a bit more screen time, but other than those I mentioned, I more or less liked the casting decisions.
