If you use zap.stream’s streaming service you are being charged. If you use your own you don’t get charged anything.
Bandwidth isn’t free and when I stream out to them they are covering streaming to multiple users.
I think that’s a fair deal.
I mean they also lowered their fee from 21 sats/min down to 10. Who does that? Who lowers fees? Unheard of.
User shocked that hosting a streaming service costs money.
Nostr isn't a charity. Using any service here is bound to be more expensive than any centralized, commercial service because they don't have hundreds of millions of users to sell advertisements to or investors that'll let them provide costly services at a loss.
That's almost 5.5 hours of streaming for a dollar. That is an incredibly good deal, and provides amazing value. If you provide value with your stream, you should easily pull in more than that. Developing amazing tools for Nostr shouldn't be a charity, V4V and all, right?
